![]() Maryland's Hudson Taylor named ACC Scholar-Athlete for Wrestling
May 28, 2008 GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maryland's Hudson Taylor has been selected as the 2007-08 ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for wrestling, league commissioner John Swofford announced Wednesday. The Scholar-Athlete Award was established this past September to be presented annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sport. Candidates for the award must have maintained a 3.0 grade point average for their career as well as a 3.0 during the last two semesters. A junior Theater Arts/Individual Studies major, Taylor was named to the All-ACC Academic Team in 2007-08. Taylor also represents the Maryland wrestling squad on the school's Student Athlete Advisory Council and was named to the university's Dean's List for the 2007 fall semester. The ACC Wrestler of the Year this past season after the leading the Terps to their first ACC Wrestling title since 1973, Taylor compiled a 37-3 overall record and captured the league's individual title in the 197-pound division. The Pennington, N.J., native completed the year with a third-place finish at the NCAA Championships, becoming one of only two ACC student-athletes to earn All-America status this past season. - ACC -
